David Fincher



David Fincher was born on the 28th August 1962. He is an American director and producer of films, television and music videos.

-          The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button (2008)

-          Mindhunter (2017-2019)

The music videos he has directed include:

-          “Janie’s Got A Gun” Aerosmith (1989)

-          “Freedom ‘90” George Michael (1990)

-          “Vogue” Madonna (1990)

-          “Who Is It?” Michael Jackson (1993)

David Fincher became fascinated with film making when he was eight years old, he didn’t realise that there were hours between shots. He considered it to be like a magic trick how “The actual circus of it was invisible”, he thought that there would never be something so interesting to him.

His early work included being employed as a production head in John Korty’s studio. He then became a visual effects producer and worked on Twice Upon A Time with George Lucas in 1983. Next, he was hired as an assistant cameraman and matte photographer and worked on Return Of The Jedi and Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom. In 1984 he directed a television commercial for the American Cancer Society, this brought Fincher to the attention of producers in Los Angeles and from there he was given the opportunity to direct The Beat Of The Live Drum, a documentary. Fincher co-founded the Propaganda Films production company.

In 1990 20th Century Fox hired David Fincher to direct Alien 3, however the reviews were very negative which lead Fincher to disown the film.

People that have worked with David Fincher have applauded his meticulous eye for detail, “He’s really good at finding the one detail that was missed” said Max Daly.



In 1990, Fincher married model and photographer Donya Fiorentino but divorced in 1995 after their daughter, Phelix, was born in 1994. In 1996, Fincher married producer Ceàn Chaffin.
